Halloweening

The kids (and I) love Halloween and preparations are already in full swing. In an effort to be more conscious of sustainability we don’t deck the house with tonnes of plastic stuff, but always enjoy an annual trip to our local pumpkin patch and always relish a Halloween outfit or three.

This year we have been loving our art set from Lots of Lovely Art which is a postal craft box full of creative activities and fun themed art based things to keep the kids entertained. They’ve done a Halloween themed box which the boys have loved doing.

Barney has been flying around in his Bat Jyms from the amazing The Bright Company, which double as pajamas and make the best costume. We bought our glittery bat mask from H&M.

Toastie Kids

I’m always on the lookout for sustainable, durable outerwear for the kids for the colder seasons, with three energetic kids it’s important to me to source them something that will last and look stylish.

Toastiekids.com is a new kids outerwear brand and has a range of beautiful colours and two styles to suit all ages. I was impressed to read about their commitment to sustainability and how they use 100% recycled plastic bottles to create the shell for their raincoats which are lined in the softest lightest fleece.

Swedish Linens

I’m ‘a tiny bit obsessed’ by kids design bedding in natural fibres and contemporary colours and have long been following Swedish Linens. I adore her designs and have been a fan on Instagram for a while now. I coincidentally also adore anything rainbow in the kids rooms so this amazing sheet fits perfectly in our home. I was tempted to go for mustard or cinnamon brown but plumped for nudie pink in the end to mismatch with our existing duvet covers from H&M and Coco&Wolf.

Swedish Linens was founded by textile designer Hannah Johnsén, a previously-sleep-deprived mum to two young boys. She found that everything got easier (and definitely quieter) after investing a little extra thought and care into the family’s sleeping environment. Their mission is to improve your sleep by giving you the highest quality bedding with the least impact on our planet.

Everything you see in their store is 100% organic. You can buy their sheets with a clean conscious and sleep better at night knowing you are making a difference. Swedish Linens bedding range is 100% organic, OEKO-tex and GOTS certified.

Tobs and Ror Rattan Chair

I’ve loved rattan furniture and accessories in interior styling for some time now, sourcing some vintage pieces to mix in to the kids rooms, but recently stumbled across Tobs and Ror, who have an amazing mix of contemporary rattan furniture in kids sizes and beautiful colours.

There are beautiful headboards, rattan cupboards and delicious chairs in pastel and natural colours, and Tobs and Ror has been really kind and given a 10% discount code to everyone which is coralatkinson10 at tobsandror.com and therattancompany.co.uk

I fell head over heels with the rattan Petal chair and knew it would look incredible in either of the kids rooms as a statement piece. It feels solid and sturdy and beautiful quality, and I’ve styled it in a few of our rooms to show how versatile it is.

Easter with Meri Meri

This Easter we got merry with some beautiful seasonal decorations and gifts from our friends at Meri Meri . The kiddos loved dressing up in the bunny ear sets, and Willa adores her new dolly with matching headdress.

They spent ages decorating their hard boiled eggs with the egg decorating kit, and we look forward to filling our bunny pinata with treats for Easter weekend.

Family Photography with Tim Dunk

Coral&Co©TimDunk-089.jpg

We met the incredibly talented photographer Tim Dunk in Leeds last week. I’m always slightly trepidatious taking three children anywhere together to meet someone as they are all fairly wild, but Tim had them laughing, relaxed and happy as soon as he arrived. His calm and non invasive style is perfect and has everyone at ease immediately.

Coral&Co©TimDunk-071.jpg

Tim had taken some incredible captures 3 years ago of us, when I was pregnant with Willa which I have framed on the walls at home, so I was so excited to catch up with him now Willa is running about too. She was the biggest ham of them all and I was genuinely amazed at how she enjoyed the hour long session climbing, exploring and jumping about with Tim- she’s his new biggest fan.

You can find Tim’s website here, and I honestly could not recommend him more, he is SO flipping talented!

I will love these for a lifetime. Big thanks Tim. How will I ever chose which to have on the walls?! X

The story of Velveteen Babies

When I had my second child, I felt that I needed a personal project to give me a sense of identity. At this time I had discovered Instagram, and the inspiration it gave me for designing my then little ones nursery.

Back then it was quite a different world, not many interior brands in kids design existed, and at the time, monochrome was a huge trend but there wasn’t much actually ‘out there’ to buy.

I began by making Barney a little cloud to hang over his bed with monochrome drops, followed by a few ‘babies’ which were little felt ‘people’ dressed in monochrome outfits.

After making a few and sharing them in my feed, many friends started to ask me to make some for them, and the rest is history!

velveenbabies.JPG

I named the brand ‘Velveteen Babies’ after making these little doll toys, and as I loved the sentiment of ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’ the brand name emerged. I’m not sure I’d name it that today if I could think u a new brand name, but as its so well known now, it has stayed with me.

As well as all the hours I spend hand creating my mobiles, garlands and decorations, a huge massive passion of mine is styling, and I come from a visual merchandising background.

I style virtually all my posts in our home, which we are still renovating. It’s an incredible pressure to present different ‘looks’ using just three children’s areas which are all really small, but sometimes the best work comes from working with a challenge! I absolutely ADORE working with other design led businesses and incorporating their work into my schemes. I am passionate about supporting other small businesses and sharing products that I know my followers will love and appreciate as much as I do.

velveteenbabies.jpg

I feel incredibly lucky and fortunate to be able to do this as my ‘job’ and work around my family, producing beautiful things that people appreciate the world over. It’s an absolute privilege.
